We manufacture a range of powder flocculant's and liquid coagulants for use on the paper machine and for the paper mills wastewater treatment plant. Our products are suitable for a wide variety of different types of paper production.
On the machine the use of a flocculant as a retention reagent is critical in ensuring that the retention of fibres and fillers is high enough to achieve design throughputs and ensure optimum water utilisation.

The HENGFLOC PG range of retention reagents have been specifically developed to be used as a single retention reagent system. They are also used in combination with a mineral or organic coagulant or in a treatment system together with a microparticle.

Determination of the optimum retention aid is dependant on several factors. Initially it has to be understood what is the main purpose of using the retention aid. Normally this is either drainage improvement or increased retention. Consideration has also to be given to the type of fillers, fibres and other additives present in the paper stock. Generally the choice of retention aid is opposite to that of the charge of the system with higher molecular weight polymers being suited for retention improvement and lower molecular weight polymers being suited to improvements in drainage.

Prior to any plant test extensive testwork is required in the laboratory to determine the best retention aid system.

The HENGFLOC range of coagulants also finds use in the production of paper. These polyamines and polydadmacs are used generally for the following applications:

· In conjunction with an anionic retention aid providing the cationic charge to enable the dual product system to function correctly.

· To neutralise the charge on anionic trash in the water circuit.

· As fixing agents therefore controlling the 'stickies' in the coated broke.

· In conjunction with AKD and ASA sizes to improve cure rate.

For the treatment of white water and wastewaters from the paper process the standard HENGFLOC range of cationic and anionic flocculant's can be used for effective treatment. Often the optimum chemical treatment system will involve the use of a coagulant in conjunction with a flocculant to achieve the desired results for the initial thickening or flotation process. The use of polyaluminium chloride(PAC) as a coagulant is common in both wastewater and also white water treatment although alum and the HENGFLOC coagulants are also extensively used. Laboratory testwork is always necessary for determining the optimum treatment.

Following the thickening or flotation stage, sludge dewatering normally follows and here typically cationic polymers are used. Again use of the relevant laboratory testwork technique is required to determine the optimum polymer.
