Uses of zirconia
The chemical inactivity, high melting point, high resistivity, high refractive index and low thermal expansion coefficient properties make it an important high-temperature resistant material, ceramic insulating material and ceramic sunscreen, and is also the main raw material for artificial drilling.

(3) Used as functional ceramics, structural ceramics: electronic ceramics, bioceramics. Making artificial gemstones, grinding materials. Used as piezoelectric element, oxygen varistor, bulk capacitor.
(4) Zirconium dioxide can also be used in refractory materials: electronic ceramic firing support pad, melting glass, metallurgical refractory materials.

The addition of yttrium oxide to zirconia changes its phase transition temperature range, pure zirconia is cooled from high temperature to room temperature, and the square crystal is converted into monoclinic crystal after the phase change temperature, because its volume changes drastically, resulting in the sintered finished product containing microcracks, often unusable. By adding yttrium oxide, the temperature range in which zirconia is stable in cubic crystal phase can be greatly increased.
