Ethylmagnesium Bromide is prepared by reacting magnesium with bromoethane in anhydrous ether. The relative density of the commercial product (ether solution) is about 1.01. It is used for the Grignard reaction. Similar to ethyl magnesium chloride, it is an ether or tetrahydrofuran solution with a relative density of 0.85.
