Sintered Metal Flame Arresters
Sintered metal flame arresters are designed to prevent the propagation of flames in gas or vapor handling systems. They are typically composed of a cylindrical housing with a sintered metal element inside. The element is made up of multiple layers of metal powder that are compressed and sintered (heated without melting) to form a porous material with precise pore sizes and distribution.
When a flammable gas or vapor mixture passes through the flame arrester, the element acts as a filter, allowing the gas or vapor to flow through while trapping any flames or sparks. The porous material of the element also provides a large surface area for heat dissipation, making it difficult for any trapped flames to ignite the surrounding atmosphere.
